Jose Silva, a Winnetka Park District groundskeeper was cutting the grass at Skokie Playfield Aug. 20 when something grabbed his attention. A male great horned owl had become trapped in the netting of a batting cage. The owl's left leg was ensnared and the bird was frantically struggling to free himself.
